There are many freelancing site available like Freelancers, Upwork, Fiverr, Hubspot, and many more. You can easily grab the perfect team on these platforms. All of these platforms make it easier to get and hire experts all across the globe. However, it is not always easy to get the right one for your upcoming projects. It may be hard for you to choose between agencies and freelancers. Freelancers and Agencies both have their reasons and some criteria. In this article, we are going through the pros and cons of both of them.

So let’s dive in!

  • Agency and its role

In simple words, it is a group of expert people who create one organization to contrive services for an individual or any company. As per different expertise, there are so many kinds of different agencies available like advertising agencies, travel agencies, employment agencies, government agencies, news agencies, and many more.

These kinds of agencies get work from different companies and they provide them a specific type of works in given time. Expertise of agencies always stick to the proper work structure to accomplish the task. Here you can see hierarchy as per the knowledge of individuals.

  • Freelancer and its role

You can also call them a one-man troop. A freelancer is the only person who likes to works by himself. Freelance is a person who expert in one particular skill and gets hired by any other person or company. You can get a loss of structure between the company and freelancer. Here you can’t see any hierarchy to maintain. Freelancers always do their stuff as independent individuals. You can call him as a contractor for any particular task but not as an employee.

1. Workflow and structure

When it comes to freelancers, workflow and structure are very simpler than any agency. Here any person or company contact freelancer directly and tell about their requirement, and deadline. Once a freelancer gets the satisfied deal he prefers to focus only on the project in his particular way. For any query or difficulties freelancer directly contact the person who has hired him.

On the other hand, in an agency, there is availability to communicate with different clients. The upper authority of the agency gets total details and ideas about the project with clients and then briefly describes it to his team. To accomplish and watch the progress of the work there is one project manager who able to handle every possible problem during till the project ends. Once the team makes a sculpture then it directly sends to the client for approval. The project manager gets information about the positive response or suitable changes clients still want to do. Agencies always prefer perfect workflow to avoid unnecessary hurdles during the projects.

2. Monitoring the work progress

Due to only one individual freelancer always require proper monitoring. As a client, you can ask them for the daily progress of the project and give your suggestion if you find any queries. To get perfect and required work you need to give constantly and lots of suggestions about your project.

On the opposite side, all you need to do is directly contact a project manager. You can give him instructions as your work or project starts. Hiring an agency for your work requires very little monitoring as a client.

The work structure and groups of experts already know about the work they have to accomplish. The major advantage to hiring any agency for your work is that if you have any problems regarding your project then the agency will address your problem in a very professional way and done your work limited time.

3. Cost

When it comes to cost it is better to hire a freelancer for your project. The only reason is a charge, in majorities of cases freelancers charge a lot less than any agency. Hiring a freelancer for any small or simple project can benefit you in terms of saving money and day-to-day monitoring.

However, hiring an agency for your project may bit costlier for you. But you can get value for your money. When we talk about agencies then developing countries nearly charge the same as freelancers. But if you are looking for saving your time then the agency is the only option for you. You can save up to 80% of your time by hiring any agency.

4. Work commitment

Depends on the type of project you need to choose an agency or freelancer. If you are looking for any long-term project then it could be a lot risky if you hire any freelancer to get your work done because there is very little guarantee about the freelance to get consistency from him. Also, you met him virtually in majorities of cases. They prefer to move from one location to another as per their work requirement that makes it more challenging for us to find out the real location of them.

Agency is much safer for a long-term commitment. Here you get official and legal guarantees of your work. An agency has a group of people who always stick to the workflow. They got orders from the upper authority. Here the chance of getting fraud is about to big no. majorities of agencies not only focus on work, but they also look after the modern and latest technology.

5. One-stop solution

If you are looking for a one-stop solution for your diverse project then a freelancer is not a good choice for you. The only reason is that freelancer has the expertise in only one thing. Whether in a big project you need to hire multiple freelancers which consumes lots of time.

On the right side, an agency can provide you a one-stop solution. Here you need not deal with different people. All you need to do is connect with the project manager and you will easily get project reports from scratch to end systematically.

6. Productivity and effectiveness

Majorities of freelancers prefer to Work From Home. It is hard for them to maintain any proper structure every time. The chances of getting less productivity and effectiveness are much higher in freelancers compare to any agencies.

Hiring an agency can provide you great workflow, productivity, and effectiveness. The only reason for it is the structure of the agency. People understand and know about their tasks and what they are going to do with them.

Wrap up

To sum up, agencies and freelancers have their benefits and limitation. As per your project or work environment, you can choose the most suitable person. In some cases, a freelancer may be the only option for you to get an excellent result. While sometimes it may hard for you to replace the expertise of the whole team which any agency provides you. Here I suggest you some of the points which you need to check before hiring any of them. The rest is on you!
